For the week of Sep 17, 2018, our Athlete of the Week is Andrew Davis. We talked to some people about him and this is what they said:
Jacob Camacho: How long have you played football with Andrew? “4 years, since freshman year.” What sets him apart from the other players? “His attitude toward the game and everything else.” What is the most memorable play? “2 weeks ago, our last game before our bye, he was running and he just kept driving after he was being pulled, so he gained yards instead of negative.” What do you think about him as a player? “Aggressive.”
Zach Ball: How long have you played football with Andrew? “Since I was like 10.” What sets him apart from the other players? “His attitude.”
Coach Rocha: How long have you coached Andrew? “I’ve coached Andrew for about 4 years.” What sets him apart from other players? “What sets him apart is his family history, just kinda knowing his brothers.” What is the most memorable play? “Him being humble and realizing his role on the team. We faced Lemoore he rushed the ball really well. He didn’t fumble the ball, he had about 85 yards rushing and it was good to see the smile on his face.”
Andrew Davis: What position do you pay and why? “I play slot and running back, because I’m the best at what I do” Why do you like playing football? “The excitement of the game, bonding and the excitement of winning.” What or who inspired you to play football? “Growing up as a kid and not having nothing, trying to be successful in the future inspires me to push toward what I want.” What’s your personal goal for this season? “Rush for 800 yards and going to Valley and winning.” How long have you been on Varsity? “3 years.” How do you feel about it being your last season? “Knowing that it’s my last season for high school it motivates me to play harder and makes me understand I have to listen and shut my mouth.” Are you going to continue to play football? “Yes yes yes I am. I don’t know what college but something like UCLA!”
