How to spice up your t-shirts

By: Savannah Sousa and Kendall Hadfield

Do you ever get bored with your old spirit shirt from freshman year? Here are some ways to re-vamp it so you can wear it to a football game again. You can use these techniques on any old t-shirt, so get ready to go DIY crazy.

You may have seen this first style around a lot.  You might be afraid to do it, but it is actually pretty easy and we have included a couple of tips to help.

This style is very easy to do, you literally cut a triangle. One tip is to fold the shirt in half using the collar so that the sides of the triangle are the same size (pictured below).

Then cut your triangle depending on how big or small you want it.

Our result is pictured below. One helpful tip is to remember not to stick your head in the wrong hole or you’ll end up stretching it out.

This second style is a basic halter top, so if you have a old black t-shirt and need a black halter top, save some money and do it yourself.

This style is perfect for people who don’t like how constricting t-shirts are. It makes a t-shirt perfect for summer. The first step and only step is to cut from the armpit to the collar (pictured below).

The next style looks like a typical t-shirt from the front but has a small detail in the back. I would recommend wearing your hair up so everyone can appreciate your DIY skills.

This style is a bit more complicated so here is a video to help you out:

All these styles are very simple and easy to produce.  You and all your friends can cut shirts and come out to all the athletic games looking cute but still feeling comfy.  These are styles to take cute pictures with and promote your Tulare Western pride.  Stay spirited and don’t be afraid to show your personality.

Cutting shirts is a new and upcoming style trending all across America.  It is a way to go from a simple t-shirt to awesome creativity, so hop on the band-wagon.
