A new study by Dr. Sarah Nechuta shows how the regular consumption of green tea can lower many cancers in the abdominal region or, more specifically, in the digestive system. The organs that are being helped are mostly the stomach, esophagus, and colon.
The study was conducted on a group of Chinese women who were asked about their diets, whether or not they drank tea, what kind, and how often. Other measures were also put into place to ensure that there weren’t too many factors playing a role in the outcome of the study. For example, these women were also asked about their toxin intake, if they drank alcohol or smoked, and the ones that did had to be excluded.
“Regular tea drinkers in the study were younger, had higher education, exercised more and consumed more fruits and vegetables,” according to Vanderbilt University Medical Center. So statistically, people who fit green tea into their daily routines seem to be healthier and more efficient academically.
However, these regular habits were the factors that the scientists couldn’t rule out because they were so diverse that they would end up with a miniscule experiment and little to no research material.
“Tea contains polyphenols or natural chemicals that include catechins like EGCG and ECG. Catechins have antioxidant properties and may inhibit cancer by reducing DNA damage and blocking tumor cell growth and invasion,” says the Vanderbilt University Medical Center.
“For colorectal cancer, risk was reduced by 29 percent among the long-term tea drinkers,” includes the article by the Vanderbilt University Medical Center. These results, though, are coming from people who drink tea everyday and have done so for a long time.
This article was just really interesting to me because taking a moment to realize that something as common as green tea can have such significant effects on a disease that has plagued humanity for centuries. I think a herbs affect a lot of the body’s systems and functions and that with more teas and herbal remedies we could be a whole lot healthier.
Many families have a long history of all kinds of diseases and illnesses, for example almost everyone has diabetes and those who don’t have cholesterol and high blood pressure problems, along with many lung, liver, and kidney issues. However, I believe that if they begin drinking and consuming healthier foods, they’d be way better off and they’d find that much less issues would come up.
Also, going to see a nutritionist and, because of cholesterol, limit themselves to three bread-like products a day and only whole grain. Even switching to 1% milk. Making themselves drinks full of all kinds of fruits and vegetables with a little bit of almond milk would go a long way in decreasing abdominal and other such issues.
