People celebrate Christmas in many different ways, depending on their customs and traditions. For example in Mexico, Christmas is celebrated from December 12th to January 6th.
Sophomore Grace Wilbur says how they celebrate Christmas in her house. “We have a family Christmas dinner and we decorate the tree together.”
Junior Michael Olivares says what his traditions are. “We wake up on Christmas Eve and stay up all the way until Christmas day and we open one present each and we all take a picture and wait till Christmas morning. Me or my sister will drive to Starbucks and get coffee for the family. Then we open presents.”
Senior Alex Chavez shares his traditions. “My mom makes tamales and pozole. We wait till 12 to open our presents. All my family comes through.”
Christmas is celebrated in so many different ways around the world.
Sophomore Rylee Flores says, “Every Christmas Eve, we get together with my dad’s side and go to the Christmas program at church. Then we go back to my nana’s house. We have chile verde and sopes. All the grandkids open the stockings from the grandparents. Then we open our presents. Then I go to my mom’s house to go to sleep and then we wake up and have breakfast.”
Christmas is about spending time with family and celebrating the birth of Jesus. Enjoying that time with your family, that you may not always get a lot of time with, is very special. So I hope everyone has a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Years.
